Man gets nearly 30 years for drunk driving death
OLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A man in Central Ohio, with 7 drunk driving (DUI) convictions, was sentenced to 29.5 years in prison for a crash in November that killed a woman.
According to the Columbus Dispatch, Judge John Bender of Delaware County Common Please Court sentenced the 45 year old Marc Kraft to the maximum sentence of 29.5 years in prison. This would be Krafts 8th drunk driving conviction, including vehicular manslaughter.
The family of Heidi Hecker, the woman killed by Kraft, spoke emotionally about the impact of her death. Kraft’s blood alcohol content (BAC) was nearly 3 times the legal imit when he slammed his truck into the back of a Subaru that was stopped at an intersection. According to witnesses he was traveling between 80 and 100 mph.
Hecker was killed, and her 10-month-old daughter and boyfriend were injured.
