The following is an article in todays (5-04-09) Press Telegram spotlighting our organization and how we are trying to fight drunk driving at its source, the individual.
“Stopping drunken driving
I am responding to the April 13 letter from Dan Rafferty regarding our lawmakers needing to pass stricter drunken driving laws. While I agree with his statement, I want to mention that it is not only the responsibility of our lawmakers but it is also the responsibility of the establishments that serve alcohol as well as our own responsibility as consumers.
Don’t Die Drunk (www.dontdiedrunk.org) is a nonprofit organization that is bringing more awareness to our community in hopes of preventing drunken driving by providing establishments with an FDA-approved breathalyzer machine for their customers. It must be noted that breathalyzers are a prevention tool and not a prosecution tool.
My company was at the Grand Prix where literature and the machines were available for use by the Grand Prix attendees.”

LONG BEACH - A spokesman for the Los Angeles City Attorney
said Long Beach’s First District City Council Candidate Bill Grisolia is still facing two charges for driving under the influence of alcohol. This contradicted statements earlier mentioned by Grisolias representative.
The incident occured on Jan 24 in San Pedro, which is why it is being prosecuted by the L.A. City Attorneys Office, spokesman Frank Matelijan said. The two charges he faces are driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) above .08%.
