Andy Quach, a Westminster City Councilman, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence today. The charges come as a result of an incident of the weekend when Quach crashed his Mercedes S550 into a utility pole. He issued an apology at the council meeting last night. He was also charged with another misdemeanor for driving with a BAC over .08%, as well as a sentancing enhancement for registering his blood alcohol level as over .20%, which is two and a half times the legal limit!!! The accident happened just after midnight on Sunday, when Quach was driving eastbound on McFadden Avenue. His Mercedes crashed into another car, struck a concrete wall, and knocked down a power pole, knocking out power for more then 300 homes. Quach has not stated if he will resign or not, even though the council is already receiving angry calls stemming from the incident. According to authorities, a blood alcohol level test revealed that Quach exceeded .26%, or over 3 times the legal limit. I personally think that this calls for a resignation, does anyone else agree? It wasnt a small infraction, and he wasnt just over the limit, but rather 3X the limit and crashed into another car, and knocked out power to 300+ houses!

Earlier in March this year, Cleveland Browns Donte Stallworth struck and killed a man while he was driving under the influence. Roger Goodell, commisioner of the NFL, has announced that he will be suspended without pay for the 2009 season, citing drug and substance abuse policies. Stallworth will not be involved in any activity for the team, and will not be allowed to play again until after the 2010 Superbowl in Feb. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a Florida courtroom, and was sentanced to 30 days in jail, but was released after only 24. Stallworth said he knows he has caused irreprible harm to the family of the man he killed, and was willing to accept any punishment from the NFL.
