We are getting more and more publicity every day, and appreciate all the help from everyone! Recently we had an article written and published in the Gazette, spotlighting our efforts to reduce drunk driving in our community. Check out the article “Long Beach Club Adds Breathalyzers” by Brittanie Murch
The weather was great, the drinks were cold, and everyone was having a great time this last weekend at the Pride Festival in Long Beach. We got a great response from everyone there, and tons of people tested themselves to make sure they were ok to drive! We also made a lot of good connections and future locations to place our breathalyzer. We want to send a special thanks to Julie Brown and everyone else who helped organize the event, which brought 90,000 people to Long Beach. Keep up the great work, and we will see you next year!!
The Long Beach Pride Festival brings in over 90,000 people to the downtown LB area. They have events starting weeks before the actual parade and festival. They are setup as a non profit organization, and donate money to some of their volunteers favorite charities every year. They know that a lot of people will be drinking, and have made arrangements with us to have a booth setup with some of our FDA approved breathalyzer where people will be able to test themselves, and eliminate the guessing game. So if you are down in Long Beach celebrating the weekend, stop by before you get behind the wheel!

Everyone knows that fraternities like to drink and have a good time, but most people probably think they are irresponsible about it. Well that may be true for some, but Kappa Sigma from CSULB is trying to take action to eliminate drunk driving, and contacted us to get a breathalyzer placed inside their frat house. It still charges $1 each use, with the money going back to our non profit. The house is straight out of a movie, with 10 guys living there, a basketball court and dinasour bone yard in the back, as well as a huge pirate ship balcony. Some of you may recognize the house from an episode of Monster House when they helped them build it. It is good to see college kids taking initiative to fight drunk driving, keep up the good work Kappa Sig, your community appreciates it!
There are some bars in the Tri City areas that are beginning to put breathalyzers into bars. The local bars are hoping that it will help to reduce the amount of drunk driving accidents in the area. The problem is that these bars are using machines that are more like a game. They arent FDA approved like the instruments we use, as well as not being capped to avoid people turning it into a drinking game. The ones they are placing in the bars are charging $2 for each use, we only charge $1 each. We are also setup as a non profit. While we wish them the best of luck, we hope that they can lower their price to encourage people to use it, as well as switch to the same instruments we use because they are FDA approved as a medical testing device.

The following is an article in todays (5-04-09) Press Telegram spotlighting our organization and how we are trying to fight drunk driving at its source, the individual.
“Stopping drunken driving
I am responding to the April 13 letter from Dan Rafferty regarding our lawmakers needing to pass stricter drunken driving laws. While I agree with his statement, I want to mention that it is not only the responsibility of our lawmakers but it is also the responsibility of the establishments that serve alcohol as well as our own responsibility as consumers.
Don’t Die Drunk (www.dontdiedrunk.org) is a nonprofit organization that is bringing more awareness to our community in hopes of preventing drunken driving by providing establishments with an FDA-approved breathalyzer machine for their customers. It must be noted that breathalyzers are a prevention tool and not a prosecution tool.
My company was at the Grand Prix where literature and the machines were available for use by the Grand Prix attendees.”
