Yankees Joba Chamberlain pleads guilty to drunk driving

Looks like the Yankees Joba Chamerlain will be taking the subway to the new stadium. He pleaded guilty to a Nebraska charge of drunk driving. He will have his license revoked for 60 days and have to pay a $400 fine, as well as attend an alcohol education class. When the pitcher was pulled over on the edge of Lincoln, Ned officers say his blood alcohol content was .134 percent, which is over the legal limit of 0.08 percent. The Associated Press reports that Judge Laurie Yardley told Chamberlain “You probably worked long and hard to get where you are today. It takes about 10 seconds to wipe all that out.” As part of his plea deal, he had his second charge of driving with an open container dropped.

Man asleep drunk in car still guilty of DWI

Drunk Asleep in car

The state Court of Appeals ruled today that a person who is alone, drunk, and asleep behind the wheel of his working car with his keys in the center console is sufficient support to convict him of DWI.
Citizen Daryl Fleck had the policed called on him by a concerned citizen when he was asleep in his car around 11:30 pm. When the police arrived, he was obvisouly intoxicated and registered a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of .18%, which is double the legal limit! He is facing up to 4 years in prison, since he has had prior convictions

I always heard my friends and others talk about this, but I never thought it was true. It is hard to decide, because he was sitting behind the wheel in the drivers seat. If he had been laying down in the passenger or back seat, I wonder if it would have effected the outcome. The lesson to be learned to make sure to be safe is dont be in a car asleep drunk with the keys and by yourself… unless it is a non working car. (The picture is not of Daryl Fleck, but another man who fell asleep in his car, drunk)

Keychain Breathalyzers

keychain breathalyzers

We have all seen the alcohol portable breath detector, or something similar. A digital alcohol tester like the keychain one above can be bought for less then $25. Having a keychaing device seems like it is already too late, but maybe since they have made alcohol portable, they think your bac alcohol tool should be too.

The idea behind having these small easy devices is good, but it has caused people to think of breathalyzers as either little toys that arent accurate, or tools that are going to get them prosecuted (or hopefully relieved) of DUI charges. Our breathalyzer is the only FDA approved BAC testing instrument. Our goal is to hopefully stop you before you even get to your keys, by giving you a safe way to test yourself.

At the recent G-7 meeting, Japans Finance Minister Shoichi Nakagawa was obviously very drunk. He was having trouble staying awake and looks unhappy that he had to sit thru this meeting. When he spoke, he had trouble slurring his words, finished sentances, and making sense! What have we come to?
